Info Post
So it looks like I get to take my vacation next week after all, so on short notice I don't have anything really big planned. I do look forward to lots of time relaxing around the house and at the lake, catching up on some reading and movies and generally just not coming to work for 9 straight days. Hellstotheyeah. The only thing I have scheduled is a round of golf with buddies on Wednesday. I have a potential Tulsa trip on the list, and I do plan on beering it up on my birthday, which is Friday. Vacation me!

I sort of started it a day early by going to see Clutch at The Village last night, who are one of the best live bands you can ever see. They put on another great show. You never know what set list they'll go with, but I was happy to hear them blast through a few favorites like 50,000 Unstoppable Watts and Rock N Roll Outlaw. I really wanted to hear 10001110101 and Elephant Riders, but they didn't play them so that was a bit disappointing. Also I love Electric Worry and they only do sort of a stripped down, acoustic version of it during the encore. But still, it was an awesome show as they did stomp through Spacegrass, Yeti, Slow Hole to China, Soapmakers and other great tunes. PBRs were flowing for $3 a pop and I ended up with a double live CD from their Flint, Michigan show and a new classic Clutch t-shirt.

I swear I do plan on getting out to the theaters this week. Like there weren't already enough films at the theaters I've missed out on, there are 2 new movies opening today. These 2 will have you checking the calendar to see what year it is, but these reboots are all the rage so I think everybody is pretty used to it.

The A-Team

The Plot: Framed for crime they didn't commit, a team of four former Special Forces soldiers looks to clear their name with the U.S. military.
My Thoughts: The previews for this look big, dumb and loud... which is exactly what I hoped for. The reviews actually aren't too bad that I've seen. This may be worth a look on the big screen. One thing I do like is that Mr. T's character is now played by Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, a UFC fighter. I think he's a pretty funny guy and probably steals a few scenes. Disengage brain... enjoy A-Team.

The Karate Kid

The Plot: Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) moves from Detroit to China with his hard-working mom, where his feelings for a girl in his class make him the target of a jealous bully who is trained in kung fu. Fortunately for Dre, his building's maintenance man, Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), reveals himself to be a master of the self-defense form and begins training the boy.
My Thoughts: OK, lots of people are complaining that they remade this, but it's got Jackie Chan in it (big plus) and Jaden Smith looks to be a lot more believable (and likable) than Ralph Macchio, who totally douched up the role of Daniel Larusso back in the day. This really doesn't look nearly as bad as I'd feared. Might even be fun.
